JIM EDMISTON
Jim works in acrylic and oils in his top-floor studio at 44AD on the corner of York Street and Abbey Green in the centre of Bath. The work is always colourful, sometimes abstract and often absurd, reflecting his long-term concerns about climate change. He has contributed to such exhibitions as Aberdeen Artists Society, Wales Contemporary, Bath Arts Society, the Royal Scottish Academy and Green Door Gallery in Brussels. Work is also sold when
Studio 44AD holds its annual Open Studios event at the end of November. Jim’s life as a professional artist began around 1980, designing and making original toys and colourful wooden constructions. This led to annual attendance at Chelsea Crafts Fair, where commissions came from individual collectors as well as organisations such as the Young V & A, Glasgow City of Culture, the Forestry Commission, Mercedes-Benz and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. During this time, Jim also wrote and illustrated books for children.
