ANNEMARIE DErrick
In 2013 I graduated from The Art Academy in London before moving to Bath the same year. Initially I painted representationally in oils but after several years I decided that my interest lay more with colourful, expressive abstracts, florals and still lifes. I switched to acrylics, sometimes incorporating mixed media and collage, and discovered a love for mark-making, layering, texture and bold colours.
In 2024 I completed the Art2Life Creative Visionary Program with Nicholas Wilton. My work now follows a more intuitive process, letting the painting evolve as I put down layers, marks, shapes and colours, reacting and editing as it develops.
I am inspired by the colourful and quirky things in life and approach paintings with a sense of playfulness and joy which I hope transfers to those who see my paintings.
